My house was broken into and know I can't sleep

I posted earlier this week about how someone broke into my house stole my car keys, and my car. All they had to do was walk up over the stairs and shoot my husband and myself. Our bedroom is at the top of the stairs and the door is open. I can't stop thinking what if. I know it is stupid but it is keeping me a wake all night. Has anyone else been in this situation and how did you get over with dealing with the fears?

i think it happens. a few years ago when a theif broke into my house, he stole the generator and cash. the theif wasn't caught but a fear of being robbed agin creeped into my head. after that day even a slightest noise at the door or somewhere on the roof made me get up from my sleep and i used to rush towards the window to see if someone was there. my mom said i should take out this fear from my mind and not worry so much as i was doing. gradually the fear subsided. i think even you will take sometime to get rid of such worries.

I am ok now. I still have to double check and make sure everything is locked up.

It takes time to get over it. It was an invasion of your privacy. I thappend to me that one time I told you about, but, I moved out of there. Still, it took awhile to get over it. Good luck dear.

Yes Linda I have and it is not easy to get over it, but I hope by now that you are over the Situation as it has been to months ago. Or at least over part of it. It takes time I know that as it was horrible for me to. Just the thought that someone was in your House makes you uneasy. I really hope that you are feeling more secure now.

I think you are worrying too much. It would have been kids that did this (I am almost certain) Just put wood in your windows so nobody can open them and always make sure your door is locked. I don't think it's anyone that wants to randomly shoot people. Seriously how often do you here of that happening where we live. Its just a bunch of kids. Don't worry so much you'll be fine.
