i've watched this episode of HOME MAKEOVER EXTREME EDITION where turned a house to maximize the use solar energy. they mentioned that their monthly electrical expense would merely reach $7. it's nice that you can save that much monthly. but for normal families, how much the building of solar energy equipments would cost? what are the goods and the bads of having solar energy?

The major disadvantage of solar is the start up cost. but some states have a per watt rebate and there is a 2000 dollar rebate on your taxes from the government. Solar heating and solar electric is good for the enviorment because the power and games company will have to service you with less power and they will have more power for the rest of us and when enough of us do this they might not have to build a new power plant.

We have a solar and wind powered house in Northern Ohio. It is earth bermed and we can live totaly with only the power produced. No bills. Our things that require electricity is built to use the power we produce. The washer and the water well pump use the power we produce quite nicely. The cost can be considered pricey but you do not have a bill to pay after purchase and within a short period of time you recoup the cost of the panels and wind turbines. This is a great way to go. During the black out a few years ago it sure did not affect us. Please consider it and find out how to use it!
