Are cats suppose to eat catnip?  

My cats go crazy with catnip..they will roll around and play in it or eat some of it and then start spazzing out running all over. They usually do eat it but I think the scent drives them crazy, too. They get kind of a "high" off of it.

I usually sprinkle someon my cat's favorite toy and he will grab it with his claws and roll around on the floor rubbing the toy on his face and licking it. He eats a little of it this way, but that is safe from what I have read.

My cats love to lick it up also. One goes crazy after he licks it up and the other just likes the taste but he doesn't get all hyper.

Haha. I think the "pot" for cats is okay for them to eat, but I think the best thing to do with it is to place it in their bed or toys for them to smell, or roll in it like your cat does. I fed it to my cat years ago and she went insane for about a week. I never fed it to her after that again.

I have two cats. One eats it and rolls in it. The other just scratches at it. It does different things for different cats. They are great animals though, aren't they?

catnip makes them go crazy. Its like crack for cats. I dont give mine it.
