How to install Ubuntu Linux on a Mac  | |  Does anyone know how to install Ubunto Linux onto an iMac from a cd? This is an old G3 that's abit quirky.I was hoping to install the Linux and give it some new life.Any suggestions?

| vhansen (1189) | 3 years ago | Yes,it is.BUT that's why I picked Ubuntu.According to the Pure Mac site under Alternative OS,it will also run on a G3.The reason I wanted to put it on is because the Panther install on it is messed up.I bought it used and didn't give much which means no install dics.I had the Ubunto so I thought I'd give it a shot. | |

| | | 3. dynaweb (127) | 3 years ago |  You will have to get a program that partitions disk space. I dont know if MAC has one built in or not. The Linux CD will have one built in, but it MAY munch your MAC install, so best to use one from MAC first since you already have that one installed. Make a part that is 2GB for LINUX SWAP and one that is at least 4GB for the LINUX OS. Then run the livecd and install.
