If you eat a cheeseburger and fries you will have to walk ... |
|
This was very shocking to discover, especially since I like cheeseburgers and french fries.
If a person eats a cheeseburger and french fries (1160 calories) and they want to burn all those calories to keep from gaining weight then they would need to walk over eleven miles or equalivent to 4 or 5 hours to burn off all those calories according to the American Medical Association.
Would you be willing to walk that far to burn off those calories just from one cheeseburger and french fries?

1. Alexc123 (124) | 3 years ago | it really depends a lot on your size aswell, and whether you are walking up hill or just on a flat surface. personally i wouldnt want to walk that far but i wouldnt mind doing some exercise to try and burn some of it off. over 1000 calories really is quite a lot from just a cheese burger and fries though.

awesomehorizons (543) | 3 years ago | I thought the same thing too, but those calories are from fast food places that use all that grease which have a lot more calories than if we were to make cheeseburgers and fries at home.

| writerightmom (91) | 3 years ago | That's exactly what I was thinking. And I add all types of vegetables like red peppers, onions and chopped cabbage to my hamburger patties, which makes it even healthier. I also buy this AWESOME tasting bread from the health food store, actually they're buns, but they are super healthy. When I eat homemade burgers and fries, I can actually lose weight. I make my fries in the oven with a little safflower oil and sea salt...YUM.

Zebrochka (216) | 3 years ago | That also depends a lot on your metabolism.
My husband doesnt walk after having a huge hamburger&fries. He naps after it!
And he still doesn´t get fat! Lucky b@stard...

awesomehorizons (543) | 3 years ago | Now that is way cool for your hubby and it must be nice to have a metabolism like that and your comment is quite funny.

3. tentwo67 (2451) | 3 years ago | At the moment I wanted to eat them (and I love them too!), I'm sure I could convince myself that it would be worth it to walk that far to work it off! Unfortunately, if I used that rationale for all of the bad food I'd love to be eating, I'd end up walking til this time next year. Of course, if I did THAT, then maybe weight wouldn't be so much of an issue for me!
:)
Seriously, it's astonishing how many calories are in that stuff, particularly since super sizing became a way of life in America.

|
awesomehorizons (543) | 3 years ago | Haaaa, I agree with you, the logic to walk after eating fast food would keep me walking for a very long time too. I can only imagine how many calories are added to super sizing!*laugh*

4. Idlewild (4728) | 3 years ago | How about one of those Starbucks grande frappucino things with the whipped cream... they have about as many calories and as much saturated fat as a Big Mac! It's more like a milkshake, but people think of it as just a cup of coffee and probably don't look at it as a major source of calories.
| |
| |
|
|
awesomehorizons (543) | 3 years ago | Yeah, I'm sure that anyone that drinks that doesn't look at it like they will need to walk to burn those calories off ... at that rate if I had to walk to burn the calories I would have to choose the cheeseburger and fries. Might as well enjoy the reason that I was walking in the first place*laugh* right?

5. kgwat70 (10106) | 3 years ago | This is very interesting information and appreciate it very much. That is a ton of calories and no wonder why America has obesity problems. I prefer staying away from the fries and cheeseburger if you ask me. I love to go walking but that is quite a lot. I very seldom eat burgers and fries anymore. I wonder what pizza would do to a person.

6. Willowlady (8982) | 3 years ago | Sure I would! I enjoy a good bacon cheeseburger and french fries!! Would head to the local park and take the long trail! Or head home and head to the garden and work for a couple of hours. That should take care of that! lol. Would be cool for them to post on the reciept what mileage it would take for the meal to be worked off!!

|
|
awesomehorizons (543) | 3 years ago | Haaaaaaa now that's a good idea to post on the receipt how long it would take to walk off the calories from their food, LOL. Rather than walking off those calories I think I would rather not have too many hamburgers LOL.

8. clownfish (1908) | 3 years ago | Hi! When you think of it in those terms, that cheeseburger better be really, really good! LOL I'm not a big burger and fry eater, that is until we got a Culver's. I love their hamburgers! I'm still not a fry nut, but I'll eat a few here and there. :-)
