Do you get your groceries delivered? |
|
I'm just wondering how many people here get their groceries delivered. I used to get them delivered on occasion. These days I like to select the products myself so I don't use the home delivery service. If you get your groceries delivered, why do you get them delivered? Are the products that are delivered always good quality? Do they substitute things that you don't like?

1. crazy_me (537) | 3 years ago | Nope. We go to the supermarket to buy our groceries. Though it is more convenient to have your groceries delivered, we prefer going to the supermarket because that is like a family activity that we enjoy. And since the supermarket we go to is inside a mall, we usually eat out also after buying our groceries.

BittyBiddy (1083) | 3 years ago | Yes, I enjoy the shopping too. Our supermarket has refridgerated lockers that you can lock your trolley into if you'd like to go for coffee in the middle of shopping.:)

2. gabs8513 (19271) | 3 years ago | ve never had mine delivered I always go out myself to get them but I have to admit sometimes I do wish I did as it would be easier but I can't be asked to do the Shopping List online lol

BittyBiddy (1083) | 3 years ago | I know that once you have the first "online" shop out of the way it gets much handier because that list is stored in the system. You just have to hit a button and it repeats the order. But then, who wants the same stuff every week?

BittyBiddy (1083) | 3 years ago | You're probably right. And I don't think they'd put as much care into the selection of vegetables and bread as you would yourself.

4. missyd79 (2891) | 3 years ago | i do not get my groceries delivered, and i don't any place around me does that. and even if they did i do not think i would have them delivered. now i heard about places that you can place your order on line by picking out the things that you want and then going to the stor to pick them up at a time specified by you. now that i may do because i hate having to walk around the grocery store looking for what i want.

BittyBiddy (1083) | 3 years ago | Our local store charges 6 euros to deliver the shopping which I think is great because you avoid the queues and trying to park and in this weather it's so cold. I know of a few stores that operate that idea you are referring to of arranging to pick up the groceries.

5. razcal2267 (9491) | 3 years ago | I do not get my groceries delivered but I have looked into it. I used to live in WI in a town that had a population on 452 and I was basically housebound. While the now ex was at work all day I would get the chores that I was able to done before he got home. By that time he was tired and did not want to go back out but we needed food so when I found that they would delivery I thought it would be a great idea but he did not want to pay for someone to deliver it when we could go get the food ourselves. Now I do enjoy grocery shopping so I can not imagine I would want to use that service

BittyBiddy (1083) | 3 years ago | How much did they charge to deliver it? Here it costs about six euros for a delivery no matter where you live. I love the grocery shopping too. I like to make out my menu for the week and then go and shop.

6. volschenkh (786) | 3 years ago | We have a grocery delivery service in South Africa, but its too expensive. So I go grocery shopping once a week. I prefer to go after hours, when its quieter and not too many people around. It would really be nice to have a service like that, cause I just hate to go into the shops at the end of the month, when everyone received their salary, and you can hardly breath, so many people are in the isles and the ques just kills me!

BittyBiddy (1083) | 3 years ago | So, everyone is paid monthly over there? Here, the busiest days would be Friday and Saturday but we have so many supermarkets that none of them get too busy. I've lived in some places where the queues were so long I could have read Leo Tolstoy's "War and Peace" several times while I was waiting.

7. design (659) | 3 years ago | I don't as its probably one of the only times I get out of the house other than bringing the kids to school. lol. Even when I go back to work full time I probably won't as there is a 24 hr shop up the road.

BittyBiddy (1083) | 3 years ago | 24 hour shopping is so great, isn't it? Especially when you want to avoid the crowds and play on the trolley.:)

8. jellybean80 (219) | 3 years ago | We have had our shopping delivered a few times but tend to go to the shops most of the time as also like to be able to select things myself. For me it's easier to go and do the shopping when I know I have time than to arrange a time that will be convenient to have it delivered. Have had some substitutes that have seemed a bit odd, we had battered fish once, I think it was in place of carrots or something...why? Couldn't understand that one, and strawberry cheesecake instead of fresh strawberries. Have also had some fresh stuff thats not the greatest quality, and I'm usually really selective about what I'll get and dig through the whole lot to find the best ones...probably most to the annoyance of staff who have to re-do they're displays!

|
BittyBiddy (1083) | 3 years ago | Battered fish instead of carrots? LOL! Maybe they were trying to "skate" around the issue. Or were they trying to "cod" you? They were "sole"ly responsible anyway. Oh jellybean, I'm on a "roll" now. LMAO!

9. Alexandria37 (4536) | 3 years ago | I hate going into supermarkets and getting bashed by people with trollies. I get as much groceries as possible delivered and I go to the local butchers for my meat. If the supermarket does not have a particular which I have ordered they usually phone me and ask if I will accept a subsitute for it and they will usually throw in a few extra items free of charge.
| |
| |
|
|
BittyBiddy (1083) | 3 years ago | That's a great service that your supermarket offers. If I thought my supermarket would do that then I'd try to order as many things as possible that would be out of stock.
