From fermented horse urine to scandalous Borat swimwear; Borat is one of the greatest comedies that I have witnessed in an awfully long time. I can not believe that Borat has started such a commotion that Sacha Baron Cohen’s subsequent motion picture will be the accented Austrian named Bruno. Sacha Baron Cohen has developed increasingly popular for his roles as characters that are foreign and he furthermore was already incredibly popular in the United Kingdom where he has his own show named The Ali G Show. With his noticeable work in Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby and Ali G: In Da House.
Sacha Baron Cohen single handedly lifts Borat as an enormous hit of a comedy with the depictions of the Kazakhstan government to be racist, sexist, and doing ridiculous things like having thirty tons human pubis shipped to make clothing and cleaning utilities. We all know Kazakhstan actually doesn’t do all these things but it’s humorous to think about how someone can generate an environment like this film did. There are large amounts of hype about Borat, that he even appeared for a cameo on Saturday Night Live and also appeared at Comic-Con 2006 in San Diego. Sacha Baron Cohen is settling in character in interviews and innumerable publicity to endorse his motion picture. Even though I’ve seen many clips, deleted scenes, trailers, commercials, and etc. about Borat, I still consider it to be hilarious even when I was watching it.
Borat: Cultural Learnings of America to Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan is an extremely long title but suits the plot for the film very well. Borat is simply about Borat Sagdiyev which is a television reporter which travels to the U.S. and A to find out ways to better his glorious nation of Kazakhstan. In his documentary to partake in the cultural discovery, Borat shares his behaviors and his personalities about races, genders, animal rights, and countless further hilarious situations. He rallies with real life people in various situations and occupations to find out information to better his glorious nation.
Even though I truly love this film, I am discouraged that Borat is such a short film which is merely 1 hour and 22 minutes. I want an additional Borat film, whether it is a prequel or a follow-up; I just actually want to observe another Borat. The randomness of the comments and situations of Borat to other people are hilarious because of his actions that he partakes to discover learning’s to benefit his country. But can this movie really be that offensive? I don’t think so. If you are willing to believe that a government like Kazakhstan really does this than I don’t know what else to tell you. One thing I do recognize is that after the debut of this film and when moviegoers watch this film. People will be imitating the actions and accent of Borat and quoting him line by line because "it's niice".
If you do not like the following jokes: racist, making fun of animals, the mentally challenged, Kazakhstan, family, and the list goes on. Than just don’t watch it if your offensive to this crude humor satire that is hilarious to me because a lot of moviegoers are willing to watch this.
You can tell a lot about somebody by his reaction to this film.

It's not all that surprising that the few reviewers who don't like "Borat" tend to be exactly the sorts of people Sascha Cohen targets in the film for their ignorance and bigotry. Nobody likes being laughed at, regardless of how much s/he deserves it. So you get reviewers admitting that "America is falling apart from the inside," but transferring their outrage onto "foreigners" like Cohen for making essentially the same observation. It's like people who think the problem with the Iraq War is the "liberal media."

Cohen as Borat is hilarious because he perfectly imitates what he's making fun of. But the real comedy consists in the reactions he gets from stupid people by convincing them that he's "on the team." One of the best moments in the film is when he yells "We support your war of terror" through a bullhorn at a Virginia rodeo, and the crowd goes nuts with enthusiasm. They don't "get it" until he starts mangling the national anthem. These are people who never understand the substance of anything, who only react to symbolism.

"Borat" is full of moments like this - in fact, it's relentless. But it works precisely because Cohen never actually shows his hand. He doesn't directly attack misogynists, antisemites, homophobes, American imperialists, etc - instead he pretends to be sympathetic to them. He sets them up and then lets them obliviously write the punchlines. He's almost like the anti-Jeff Foxworthy - "You know you're a redneck if you take me seriously."

One thing you keep hearing with regard to this movie is that "it's not for the faint hearted," etc. Perhaps not; but the brilliant thing is, this sort of comedy actually does provoke thought by getting people to laugh at their own character flaws. It's never preachy, but it makes its point, and there really is quite a bit of intelligence behind the ridiculously crude humor. I'd recommend it to anybody capable of getting into an R movie. If you ask me, "American Pie" was ten times as "offensive" and not even a tenth as funny without having any point whatsoever.
