Train your dog.

Hey, I have a dog that is about 3 years old(human years). When I first got it as a puppy, I never really took the time to train it. After 3 years of listening to the dog constantly bark, is there anyway I could train it to keep quiet? My neighbors are getting aggrevated by the constant barking at night and same goes for me.

You must know one thing barking is the habit of each and every dog..u cannot train a dog to keep quiet at night..it is its duty to protect the house at night and is doing it right..u dont worry abt ur neighbours..u just take care of ur dog well...

I just don't feel the dog is barking to protect. My dog could bark for 3 hours straight at nothing. I think perhaps my dog is frustrated that I don't spend time with him anymore.

I repectfully disagree with Retired Guy. It is never to late to change a dogs behavior, it will just take more work. I guess the first thing to do is figure out why he is barking. When our dog barks at inappropriate times we spray her with a spray bottle filled with water. I have also heard of people making noisemakers with soda cans and loose change. You shake the car to distract the dog from barking. however both of these require you to be there at the moment the behavior happens which may not work in the middle of the night. What about investing in a sonic bark eliminator? When the dog barks it emits a sound that dogs don't like and stops them from barking. They are around $40-$50 i've seen them at sharperimage.com. That sonic sound thing sounds interesting(lol). Maybe that is what I can save up for with the earnings from MyLot! =] Or maybe that line is true.. "It is never too late to teach an old dog a new trick."

I think you would train your dog, but It would be good start when they where one year old, I think it is not later for a train program.
