Four Homeless people sued for 1 million dollars

This is an unusal case, I read it on the internet news, This New York Antique Dealer. want to Sue 4 homeless people where does he think he's going to get the money? this is the stupidest thing I ever heard of. I work for National coalition for the homeless. and I read it in an article
google news. homeless articles. what do you think about that? He said that they were driving his customers away. I suppose they would but he is suing, now where does he think he's suppose to get the money? they don't have anything. he says that he's concern about their Health. some people will try to do anything. to get money.

I can see why he would not want homeless in front of his shop, they might indeed be driving his costumers away. But I do not think that sueing them is the answer. Like you said where are they going to get the money? Wouldn't it be easier just to go out and ask them to go, or find out why they picked his shop? they are people after all, not vermit.

Sometimes homeless people do this on purpose to extort money from shop owners to pay them to not hang around their stores.
It is a subtle form of extortion and as long as you offer them the money then they are breaking no laws.
But then they tell their friends you paid them to leave and you have twice as many outside the next week!

The people around the world are taking help of internet to earn money in name of children, homeless, bereaved family, flood affected family etc etc. They are also receiving responses on them. Few of us are so kind enough that without checking how about, donate money to the unknown people. I think, before sending money to such person/orgnisation we must collect all the details first then only donate. In this way the donation will be to right person.

where I work we have 1,000 of people are donating money to our agency to help the homeless. we know that these people are good people.

he may have some kind of legal angle where if he can't collect from them he can collect form his insurance company or maybe he feels like they'll now get a lot of money and be on Oprah or something and he can get that.
But most likely he knows it's uncollectable and he's just trying to embaress the city and the police for allowing them to loiter in front of his establishment.
