I used to live in Branson, Missouri which is one big tourist trap and nothing more. As a local we learned little tips and tricks for avoiding the tourist. For instance, I knew the back roads better than the main roads. What are your tips for surviving tourist traps?

I still live in the Branson area (lucky you, you managed to get out!...lol)..and i too use the back roads and avoid "the strip" at almost any cost! I don't shop in Branson, the prices are too high and the taxes are ridiculous! I have my bank in Ozark, and I drive up there and go to Walmart there. Another thing I'm sure you know, is that if you have to travel around the strip you go while the theatres are going on and not right before or after they let out or you'll never get where you're going!

Oh my goodness, I live only a few hours away from Branson! But I've never been there. I admit that there have been times when I've really wanted to visit, but your description of it doesn't make me feel that encouraged, lol. Which is fine, because I don't currently have the money, anyway. I just know a lot of local performers who end up going down there to do the shows, and I'd like to go down and see some of them one day.
