OK I hate to take a chance on NOT being politically correct here but I don't know how else to express my anger frustration.
I have had acrylic nails for gosh probably 30 years now. I even went to far as to go get my Manicuring license back in the 80's. Tried it for a couple of years and discovered I was NOT ever going to make a living at this. I wasn't good at it and just wasn't at all like the office jobs I had held all my life to that point... anyway....
What in the world is this " PICK COLOR, PICK COLOR, sit down, 10 min. 10 mins. Wham Bam thank you mam!!!.
I work 10-12 hrs a day 5 days a week, and when I choose to get my nails done I call make an appointment... which apparently means nothing. I get to my appointment early. I "PICK COLOR... PICK COLOR"... I sit and wait.... then I get my turn. She clips a few edges, sighs when I ask her to shorten, she refuses to work on my cuticles or even take the polish off completely, I have red polish residue half way up my hands. She slaps on the fill, files, grinds, and somewhat sands them to a "half-way" smooth surface and sends you to wash (10-15 mins have past). COme back she slaps polish on them, if you want a design it's more, if you lose a nail ...it's more, if you want cuticles done ... it's more. and so on and so on.... But my point is... this is suppose to be "MY TIME" something I look forward to and something by which I can relax.
Impossible in that environment. They leave the door open in the dead of winter for ventilation. They talk in their language so loud you can't hear anything else. They make little or not attempt to converse with you .... the paying client! anyway, I just feel that the service is poor and all they want is your $$$ .
My real rant is when I book with my gal, and I get there and she gets half way through and has someone else finish me up!! ohhhhhhh that really chaps my hyde!
OK Enough said... just wanted to know if others are as tired of the overall treatment as I am.
My goal is to find a American Owmned Salon with American speaking Manicurists that appreciate my business and my Money and try to give me a relaxing hour once every two weeks?
Whats your take on this?

i am right with you on this one!!!!! i dont get my nails done anymore because of this exact thing. plus, more times than not, my fingers have been cut around the nails so deep that they will ACHE until the next day. ive even gotten an infection from these places, so i stopped doing it. id rather by walmart plastic glue on nails than go back to one of these places!!! if i dont find an american owned nail salon, i wont ever pay another dime for these people to mess up my hands and not take time and do a good job. Plus i'd like to have a conversation during my visit, not just a couple words here and there and them blabbing in their own language to the others. This is America...speak OUR language unless you are amongst your people and we arent present. its rude.

I feel your pain! I am a young mother of two in the process of opening up my nail salon God willing next year because I CAN'T STAND the fact that their customer service is horrible!!! They barely speak English and God know's what they are saying about us while we're there!!! All I do is stare at them with the "Are you kidding me" look!! My plan is to treat my customer's with respect and dignity so they can have a wonderul time while they get pampered! I'm tired of the "DRIVE-THRU" nail shop!!! I can't wait to open up my business so I can show them how it's done!!!

I feel your pain !!!
Although I'm not as much of a 'regular' as you are at it :)
The same thing applies to the pedicures I've gotten lately.
And how many times do you sit there and wonder if they're talking about you?
I don't even make an appt. anymore, no one else does, so it's really a moot point.
I have a friend who got her nails done recently at an "american owned" salon and she couldn't stop raving about what a difference.
Good Luck finding one.

I again share that pain..lol. We'd never know if we were being talked about, but that one time that I went into their so called "nail studios", I had a friend with me and we can both speak this language called Gibberish, and that's pretty much all it really is. So anyways, we decided, yeah, watch us, and we talked to each other in Gibberish while my nails were being done :) Put that in your pipe and smoke it was what really wanted to come out of my mouth, but I held back..lol. Thidagank yidagoo! (Thank you!)

Wow, I guess I'm very lucky. I go to an American owned nail salon here in South Florida. I had to try several places until I found the right manicurist. Now I look forward to seeing her every 3-4 weeks for a great manicure and good conversation. She does a great job and I've recommended her to many of my friends. I've threatened her with horrible things if she ever quits or moves away from here, and I tip her very nicely. I do hope you can find the right place where you can relax and enjoy your manicure.
