Why Can People Who Work In The Utility Companys Get Thing Right??

A few days ago we decided to switch from DSL to Cable.....I called the phone company to shut off the DSL Line since I no longer wanted it........The Operator that took the order talked to me for a half hour trying to get me to change my mind........But I told her NO and wanted to have the DSL turned off cause I was going to cable.........So I was told that the DSL would be shut off on the 16th of January..Today I picked up my phone to use it and it had been shut off...So again I called the phone company from my cell phone and after pressing one for english the having to press another number for the problem I got to talk to an operator from the phone company.... Who again tried to get me to change my mind about going to cable instead of DSL, which upset me again..Who told me my phone service would be connected between now and four pm tomorrow.......
Needless to say I'm upset over not having a phone because of someone elses mistake..Just wait to the cable company get phone service in my area.......All I have to say to the phone company is BYE BYE........
Has anything like this happened to you????

We have both Cable and have to deal with the phone company. I haven't had DSL..But what happen to me a few years back was I had 2 phone lines (2 phone numbers) in our place. Well once Cable came out with High Speed I didn't need the extra phone line for the computer so I called the phone company to turn computer phone line off. I gave them the number it was on and they said nooooo proble... Right!! Wrong.. They came out and turned off my main phone number. The feild tech is who read the order wrong and wasn't watching what he was doing.
One other time living in a Apt. Complex they came out to turn off someone elses phone line. You guessed once again they weren't paying attention and turned off our phone.
I guess in to todays World everyone is in a BIG hurry and don't watch or read what they are to be doing...
