Okay, I confess that I know one of the writers, Bob Gordon, but I still laugh my butt off every time I see this movie. It's hysterical. Tony Shalhoub is so funny. All the inside digs at the cons and stuff. Tim Allen's egotistical "Captain." Sound familiar? What's your favorite character? Your favorite scene? Is there another scifi movie that's funny/funnier?

I agree, Galaxy Quest is absolutely hilarious. We have it on tape and watch it at least every 3 or 4 months. Tony Shalhoub is great, my husband and I are both "Monk" addicts. My favorite scenes/lines: Fighting the rock monster, Capt: "It's a rock! It doesn't have any vulnerable spots!" Tony Shalhoub kissing his alien girlfriend, Guy: "OOOOh that's not right." Let's see... my favorite funny scifi movies: Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Mystery Men, The Ice Pirates, MST3K, Army of Darkness, Spaceballs, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Little Shop of Horrors, Time Bandits Those are all I could think of on the spur of the moment but all hilarious.

We watch it often, too. And we're also big Monk fans. Shalhoub is brilliant. Did you see Big Night? Ice Pirates! I just love it. So campy and silly and funny. I don't think a lot of ppl have seen it. Too bad we lost Robert Urich so young. To be honest, I was disappointed in the Hitchhiker movie. We have the British series on DVD and love it. The movie was a let down for us.

I'm a huge Douglas Adams fan, I have all the books, most of the audio books, the TV series on DVD and the movie. To be honest I was a little disappointed with the movie too but I think that always happens when you read the book first. Just too much story to squish into a 2 hr. movie. What I liked about it was seeing some of the special effects and how they transerred them from the book to the big screen. Magrathea was my favorite! They did such a good job on that.

My husband read the book but I didn't. I saw the BBC series and I think I saw a documentary or something about Douglas Adams. And can you believe, I've never seen Rocky Horror? I don't know what I'm waiting for. Maybe after years of hype, I'm afraid I might be disappointed. Better to anticipate instead.

This has got to be one of my all time favorite comedies. So many good parts in it! We were paying the girl at the ice cream stand one night, and when she told him the total, my husband just had to say "By Neptar's hammer, what a bargain." She looked at him like he was insane (not too far off, actually!) I love the part when they are trying to bring the captain back, and they get the 'pig beast' and it's inside out! ...and exploded! And the chompers, lol! WHY would those be there!!! So funny!

Oh, yes. This was a surprisingly good movie. I went to see it with my dad, kind of like a father/daughter date. We laughed so hard! I think the funniest part is when the show is picked up again and they have the aliens co-starring and the female alien that hooked up with Tony Shalhoub's character is addressed in the credits as Jane Doe playing Jane Doe. The whole thing was a comic masterpiece.
