Benefits in journalism?

annie dillard advised writers to "dedicate your life to something larger than yourself." i believe that the benefits that you'll be getting from journalism is directly related to the things you'll be giving. i'm still a journalism student but i see the benefits of becoming one. journalist are better exposed to different topics. you really have to know a little bit of everything and a lot about something. the risks involved such as sleep deprivation and not to forget your own life is nothing compared to your satisfaction and happiness.
