Pedometers  

I bought one last week only a cheap one and it worked good then O dropped it and now it doesn't, I think I should buy a better one, I think they are good, encourages you to walk...

They all are pretty crummy. I asked my hubby just now, and he says the same thing.

I had several cheaper ones. They were inaccurate to say the least. I finally decided to research them and put a bit more money in for a good one. I love mine! Most have to be clipped in an upright positon on the waist or somewhere specific to be accurate. Mine can be carried in a pocket, in a purse, bookbag...wherever and it is still accurate! I carry it in my pocket at the hospital and it does just fine! It is an OMRON brand. I belive I paid 15 dollars for it. It has been a year since I got it. It shows total steps, how many of those steps were aerobic, date, time, and has a memory of the last 7 days. The feature I like best though is that it isn't picky about where I carry it! I have had it in my pocket mostly and in my purse a lot too!

You need to make sure that the instructions for setting it up are followed carefully. It will ask for your weight and you have to measure your step length as well. I may also ask for your height. I find sometimes that my pedometer will not count my steps but it did this when the battery was getting low and then I found it worked ok. I am not sure but it is best to check the manufacturers instructions as each machine will vary. I make sure I hook mine onto my waist band above the front of my right leg as I am right handed.

I have one too but it does not work. My friend on the other hand has an expensive one and it does work. So maybe I should have spent more money on mine.

maybe u have to buy a expensive pedometer. avoid the cheaper one's cos they are bound to give u problems. why don't u visit about.com? they have tips on these pedometers and they also provide on tips on what to buy. do check it out because they are experts in this field

I bought one from Sears about 5 years ago and it still works fine.

it's either broke or she moved her leg just a little bit. wear it on your sock if you get one. mine worked pretty good.

The first one, I bought from Walmart and paid $4.00 for. It worked for about two months, then the numbers started disappearing! lol! Not sure why.....

So I bought one that is more expensive, but still at Walmart. I'm hoping this one lasts longer. If not, I'll check into the one that someone posted above.

I've really seen a decrease in my weight since starting to monitor my daily steps.

My hubby bought me a pedometer for Christmas last year and mine works great. He bought a good one, I think from a sporting goods store. At first I definitely tested it to make sure it didn't add or skip steps-- I never saw any mistakes on mine. The only problem is I usually forget to wear it! The goal is 10,000 steps per day. Thanks for reminding me-- I'll use mine today!
