Is WII a step forward or a step back in when it comes to serious gaming?

well i think that it's a new and innovative thing but i wouldn't call it a next gen console. especially for people like me, i think gaming is sacred to me. when all others are looking forward better graphics, high def gaming, i think mainly it's a console for the untapped market i.e. people who are not serious gamers. I'm not trying to bad mouth it, i do it would be fun to play on the Wii, i still play Dr. mario sometimes. But for advancement of serious gaming, i don't think it is a part of that
