Photography in Finland email this discussion to a friend?

I´m looking for photographic schools in Finland, maybe also in other Scandinavian countries. I hope that I can get good basics in film and digital photography and processing, but also a lot of advices about photography as a fine art and documentary. I would also spent about one year near natural environment and get familiar with the Scandinavian languages (Swedish or/and Finnish). I tried to search with google and I got one in Finland, www.voionmaanopisto.com,, but their sites in English were quite short. As I understood there was also a weekly term program, which is unfortunately quite rare, but gives a good overview. Weekly program was only in Finnish, so I did not get ideas out. Can somebody tell any experiences about that school or other schools in Finland in general?

I admit, I'm not a photographer but I researched a bit too for you. Here's an interesting school I found:
http://www.foto.gu.se/

The opinion of one site about this school - "The School is a state-financed department of Art within the Fine Arts faculty of Göteborg University - the largest Fine Arts faculty in Scandinavia. It is a spearhead for photography. The general policy for the work of the School favours free, individual creativity. The aim of the School is to raise the quality and increase the breadth and diversity of photography in Sweden. Bachelor and Master degrees." (http://www.libraryofphotography.com/schools.html)

What do you think?

Thank you very much for your answer. The only problem is that in Gothenburg "The course is three years in duration, leading to a Degree of Bachelor in Photograph" and " Final date for applications: 1 march, 2006". So, it’s far too late for this year and maybe too long course for me to get only the basic skills. But I found the English sites of the Voionmaa institute “http://www.voionmaanopisto.com/en_kurssit.html", and I asked them about the program and the teaching language - they concern mainly to documentary and art photography which sounds very good for me and also they promised that lessons are simultaneously both in Finnish and English – earlier they have had students from GB and Japan. The term is 26.8.2006 - 15.6.2007. Also quite good for me. The only problem is financiering - 4350 euros, but including accommodation and meals. So, my problem is now to get sure if I can get support from the Finnish education systems for my studies, but I think it’s not a big problem between EU-countries. And they accept students until the 15th of August. So I have time enough to think about this school...

Cordially, TiinaL
