Can singing be learned?  |

 I have a friend who is really interested in music. He bought all gadgets and paraphernalias just to enjoy listening to music. However, despite this interest, when you hear him sing, he is really out of tune. Even with so much exposure to music, he cannot sing. I can compare him to the main character in Happy Feet. Is there such a thing as a hopeless case in singing? Can it be learned?

2.  vertex (778) | 3 years ago |  Like of music doesnt mean that he can sing well. Its a passion that will make you enjoy music withour knowing how to sing. Singing cant be learned but can be improved. Its a natural gift that can be enhanced but cant be learned. Its also good even if you dont have a nice voice.

3.  freesoul (2703) | 3 years ago |  Yes people can "learn to sing" but they can't have a beautiful voice by training .. they can have a better harmony and a "better voice" maybe but if someone doesn't have the "talent" (here it's physical ability) they can never be good singers.. it's not like sports when anyone can build muscles, the vocal cords will not improve much with training if it wasn't good at first place.

| 7. kelly60 (3270) | 3 years ago |  In most cases it can be learned, at least to an extent. Of course, some talent is necessary for anything whether it be singing, sports or anything else you do. Start slow and don't expect too much too fast. I doubt that I will ever be a great singer no matter how much I am taught. I have a friend who is, and always will be a far better singer than me no matter how hard I try. Still, I have placed within the top 3 of several karaoke contests. If you would have heard me when I first started, you would never guess it was the same singer.

| 8. Jakker27 (3910) | 3 years ago |  Yes I'm doing courses myself. Ever heart of brett manning? He released some courses for the voice and they're really good. It takes time but you do notice a difference. I'll give you a quick example. Try humming a 5 note scale then continue up the scale. Make sure your thoat doesn't hurt. Sip some water. Go as high as you can without straining. Try and hit a high note. Remember though your voice is an instrument so don't strain it or it could lead to problems. goodluck
