Some bars may start allowing dogs! |
|
Lawmakers in WAshington state are preparing a public hearing on allowing dogs to join their owners in bars! An excerpt states, "The Seattle Democrat's bill would allow bars and restaurants with liqu*r licenses to welcome dogs, as long as they accompany their owners and remain well-behaved and leashed. Establishments wouldn't be required to allow dogs, except for service animals." What do you think? Would you go to a bar where dogs were present? Would you take your dog?full story here: http://hosted.ap.org/dyna...

crazynurse (5708) | 3 years ago | Yeah, I can just see a couple of dogs getting into a fight and knocking over tables! I would also be a bit frightened that some people might bring a dog that isn't very friendly!

2. jumpinjack00 (1389) | 3 years ago | No I wouldn't go to a bar or restaurant that has dogs licking themselves while I'm eating or drinking. It's going to be a problem when the dogs smell food. Most dogs aren't trained well enough to behave in that setting. Of course the owners of those dogs are going to get upset and uppity when they're asked to leave and not the dog laying under the next table.
These establishments are going to open themselves up to law suits if a dog is spooked by a patron and bites him. ‹(°¿°)›

crazynurse (5708) | 3 years ago | Yes, I would worry about being bitten. One can think that their dog would never bite, but in actuality, we never know what a dog will do when frightened. I am also envisioning a really large dog shaking its head and slobber going all over the next table's food!

3. shywolf (3828) | 3 years ago | Well, i don't go to bars, in general. But I love to hear stories about animals being allowed in more public places like this!^_^ We had a local pet store that used to allow pets to be brought in with their owners. I'm not sure if this is still allowed, though. I've also heard of restaurants where pets were allowed, not here in Kansas City, but just around the world, and I've always thought that it is such a lovely idea. I hope one day to own at least a dog or two (I love dogs) and I would love to feel able to take my canine companion with me to a restaurant or some other sort of establishment. It would be so much fun!^_^

4. pebbles_cubbie (2157) | 3 years ago | i think that's dumb. why would you want to take your dog into a bar. i wouldn't go to a bar with dogs there because they might try to bite you or fight with another dog. that's just not safe. like you said unless it's a service animal then i see no point in taking a dog into a bar. i wouldn't take a dog to a bar because what if someone tried to get it drunk.

crazynurse (5708) | 3 years ago | Wow, that brings up many questions! Wonder if law enforcement can ticket the owner of a drunk dog? Give the dog an AI charge?

5. leezamaries (187) | 3 years ago | My husband worked in a bar for several years and when I asked him what he thought the first thing he said was as long as food wasn't served. I laughed because when I read this post the first thought (after listening to tales of his evenings working) I had was those poor dogs would be dancing around trying to avoid being stepped on or tripped over by those not drinking in moderation. I wouldn't have a problem with dogs there if as it was stated they were well behaved. I however don't necessarily think it's a good idea for everyone. I know some people who are afraid of dogs.

crazynurse (5708) | 3 years ago | Then there are the humans who turn into dogs when they have to much to drink! Ha! Perhaps the dogs might be better behaved at that point than the humans!

6. wmg2006 (4116) | 3 years ago | I read this too. It would be kind of fun, but I would be afraid of a dog fight or something. I do go to PetSmart where you can bring your dogs and cats, it is really cool to be able to walk around with your pet while they shop.

crazynurse (5708) | 3 years ago | Yeah, I can see having a dog in PetSmart, but I'm not sure having them around food is as good of an idea! I, too, would worry about a fight starting!

starr4all (2181) | 3 years ago | That would be my main issue. If the dogs owner would clean up after the dog. Unfortunately here and several places I've lived, a lot of owners will let their dogs do their business anywhere and not clean up after them. Also, I don't think it would be safe either. Dogs getting into fights with each other and biting patrons. That's just a lawsuit waiting to happen.
| |
|
|
crazynurse (5708) | 3 years ago | Yes, if I owned an establishment, my biggest worry would be a lawsuit. Each individual dog may be well-behaved. However, once you put 2-3 dogs in the mix, anything can happen! What happens if a patron gets a little tipsy and trips/falls near a sleeping dog and scares the dog, he could bite in self defense!
