We do watch TV at our house. My husband and I watch several grown up shows in the evening, and in the morning I watch cartoons with my 1 year old. The cartoons that my son watches are all educational, though. I think it's good for him. He likes to look at the colors and hear the music. He also likes to dance to the music so it helps him some physically, too.
We don't sit in front of the TV all day, though. We play with toys and read stories too. And I never use the TV as a babysitter.
I think some TV is fine, but if you are just sitting around all day watching, that is probably too much TV.

I quit watching TV because I was getting way too addicted to it, to the point that I was getting not a whole lot else done except sitting around watching show, after show, after show, for hours on end. Plus, the news on TV was way too depressing, and I often felt helpless to be able to do anything about it. It was affecting my moods. I still have a television set, but only for watching rented movies.
