Why is it that Jesus Christ called himself the LIVING WATER?

How can it be interpreted by a plainman, this is very hard but may I try, Jesus said I am the living water when you drink me , you won't thirst. Drinking is the way to absorb Jesus as as water. Thirst is something wanting. Men are born to be wanting or thirsty of everything , the wanting is never sufficient. Thirst for what? wanting for what? For truth that Jesus is the living God and when you acknowledge him as your God , you will never want you will never thirst for Jesus is alive in you. Praise the Lord Jesus for he is alive in us.

I am going to make a "safe" guess and say it may be because we need him to live an after life like we need the water to live now.

I suppose he said that because he was powerful and could walk in the water like it was mentioned in the Bible.
