As I just mentioned in a reply to another question- no one (and nothing) in this world is PERFECT. It doesn't matter the age of your partner. I believe that people need to make sure they get along, communicate with one another and care about and love each other unconditionally if they are going to get married. If that person you meet is 20 years older then you and you have a great chemistry, I would say go for it. Just be sure that if this is a question you are asking for your personal self, that you are marrying the person that you love and loves you back just the same and you have a mutual understanding of what marriage is all about and that you are both willing and will be willing to fight to keep a marriage together down the road- because marriage is NOT easy to do, even with 2 people that are willing to keep it going.

I have to agree with lpastor. If he were 7 years older or only a year older, I don't think it should really matter. I believe that the important thing is that you truly love your partner.

There is no fixed rule as what the age difference between two persons who want to marry should be. The fixed rule is that both of them should never be minors. Other important factors beyond age are: true love and level of compatibility. It may be appropriate to take into consideration cultural values and religious belief before marriage is contracted.

It is normal for men to be older than women, this is the norm in every society. In very few cases, women are younger than men in marriage relationship. For me (not a rule anyway) it is good if a man is older than a woman by not much than five years. At the same time it is good if a woman is not older than a man by two years or less.
