I guess you would call me a troll, as I live under the bridge in the lower peninsula of michigan, in the detroit area. I have been the UP a few times, all of which have been lovely. I haven't been to houghton, but my boyfriend has for a rally race a while back.

I'm a Yooper in Marquette County :) Wish I would have seen this post a couple of months ago. LOL We are finally having a beautiful, sunny day out there and the temp felt pretty good when I let Jefferson(my dog) out this morning but I can't wait for the muddy mess to dry up. Wonder how long it will take to melt the rest of the snow and dry up....How are things up Houghton way?

It was nice enough here today that after work I took my son out for a walk, and we wore long sleeves but not jackets. There's still snow lying around, of course, but it's definitely spring!
It's supposed to be even nicer this weekend, and I'm so very excited. I do love snow (it's pretty and all that) but I definitely get more than enough of it living here. =p

I am a true Yooper. My family lived in Crystal Falls for many years. Where do you live? While I am not living in Yooper country at this time, my heart will always call it home. We left there in 1962 while I was a junior in high school. My wife and I go for the class reunions every 5 years. Our next one will be in 2009. Hooray for Yoopers.

Yay! Nice to hear from a Yooper!
I live in Houghton myself. Gateway to the Keweenaw and all that.
It's coming up on Winter Carnival time here and all the Michigan Tech students are working on their snow statues. Actually the lateness of the snow has made this year a little strange in the U.P. Some of the business that depend on all the winter sports tourists are having a bit of a rough time. It's been so pretty though.
Of course the snow is pretty too. Hours of free entertainment for my baby, who loves watching it snow out the window. =)

Sorry friend, I'm not from up there, but I know where you are at least! I live in Wisconsin. I used to work at a supper club and they would get musical acts from all over the midwest, and a favorite was Da Yoopers! I don't know if they're still around, but I rarely hear that term anymore. Good luck finding someone from "up dare eh"!

Come to think of it, I haven't see Da Yoopers in a while. Kind of a shame, as they're actually funny. I'll have to ask some of my friends who are big fans of theirs if they are still doing anything or not.
I hear the term "Yooper" quite a bit up here, though technically according to a lot of them I don't qualify since I wasn't born here. (I was born in Kentucky actually, but like I said I've lived here almost 8 years.) My son was born here, and when we get some professional photos done for him, we're going to dress him up like a real Yooper for them. =)

Well, I married a troll from the thumb. I suppose that makes me a troll by marriage. I was born out of state. Does that make me an imported troll??
