Yes, I am very familiar with the ten commandments. Perhaps you would like the more simplier version of only two commandments given by Jesus Christ to his disciples. Christ said the first commandment is that you must love God with all your being - body, heart, mind, and soul. Second, that you must love your neighbor as you love yourself. Christ said that if you could follow these two simple commandments - you will naturally follow the other ten.

I know the Ten Commandments but I could not recite them word for word. Besides, in the New Testament, the commandments in the Old Testament are summarized into two - love of God and love of neighbor.

Well ! You really need not recite them word by word ! The idea is to understand these Commandments and try to impliment in our day to day life! Yes as you said the two new Testaments which says about the Good and Neighbor, almost covers most of the Ten Commandments. After all Loving the God and your Neighbor is the Key to every thing to be happy in life!! Thanks ! Good response!

I did learn them when I was at school but I couldn't tell you them today, only about 5 off the top of my head.

I know the ten commandments. As an atheist, I would discount the ones about god and false idols but the other points about honouring your parents, not stealing, murdering, committing adultery etc. I still believe in without any religious basis.
I guess if it turns out that I'm wrong and there is a (Christian) God - I'll be guilty of not following the commandments but I live a life that I consider to be good and I think I will have had a positive effect on the lives of people close to me. That is good enough for me.

Ten commandments are not for keeping memory but to implement it.Out of these ten 2 are most important. first is to worship only God of this universe second love your neighbour. I am a christian, I know 10 commandments. out of these 10 2 are most important, one is you worship only God and the other is love ur neighbour as theyself.As per new testament 10 commandments are not applicable as Jesus Christ fulfilled these on the cross of Calvary
