At what age is best to tell your children about the birds and bees?

My daughter was 10 yrs old and blossoming physically a little too quickly. I decided to sit her down and talk about "boys". She rattled off not only some technical words, but understood them, too! Anyway, she reassured me that she knew her "birds and bees" and no boy was going to take advantage of her - HUH! All that conversation left me was a new wrinkle line inbetween my eyes.

Kids learn a lot these days without the 'birds and the bees' talk. I never had that talk, i know of very little people that did, kids just seem to know stuff these days.
