Submission means respecting those people who are above us in the heirarchy. For example, in the workplace, you have your own boss to follow. I could not imagine if you will follow orders from your boss. Submission is never slavery.

By submission, if you mean as a submissive to a Dominant, then that is a personal thing decided between the two of you. As trust grows, so does the level of submission. By the same token, trust betrayed lowers the level of submission. Trust and honor in all things.
