How long does the video in a digital camera lasts?

Well, last time I had a video camera and it stopped all the time at 30 sec of recording time and I wonder whether all cameras are like this or not, because I went to best buy and they couldn't tell me

I have a digital camera and my videos last longer then 30 seconds. If I have a lot of pictures on the camera then my video will only record for a few minutes, but if I have more memory then it can record for about 45 minutes to and hour. It all depends on the memory chip you have.
