hi! ARE YOU CRAZY??? POLISH! My God. This language is very difficult. In Polish is only one thing easy... spelling. In English that thing is very difficult but in Polish it is veeery simple... for Polish people of course ;) In Polish we don't use operators (I am, U R, he she it is...., have, do). It is the worst thing in Polish. I think that Japanise is easiest. My English is little poor, that we (Polish people) are talking strange. LIKE:
In ENGLISH - "R U FUNNY?"
in POLISH we thinking like - "IF R FUNNY?".
Strange, ha ? You`ll better change a country because this language will kill U ! haha :D :D :D :D :D

P.S And we use non-stop "SH SH SH SH" ;) "CH CH CH CH" ;) Like trees in forest ;)

I know about that funkyman! That keeps my mind spinning all the time..everytime I am in class. But I am interested to learn. Hehehe! It would be easy in the long run. I just need to practice talking to polish people and watch polish programs on TV. So far, I am progressing. Wish me luck!

yes but we use polish special language marks - c,z,n,l etc, what is almost impossible to say for foreigners :)

It is never difficult to learn a language if you know how. That means, if you already know 2 foreign languages you're sure to be able to master another one more easily. I know 4 foreign languages, and must assure everyone: Polish is not to be feared. Moreover, it will be much easier for Slavic peoples to learn Polish as it belongs to the Slavic language family. If you are from Britain or France, you'll have to get accustomed to Polish grammar (get "magic" declination tables ready) and alphabet (write out all the "strange" letters and describe their pronunciation for yourselves). Coming from Russia, I spent 3 months to learn the language, and I've been polishing it for 5 years already here in Warsaw. Nothing seems strange or alien to me, as people are mostly very affable and amiable. No "funkies" must stumble you: when in New York, I met a Welch, and he told me: "Victor, English is crazy, stick to Russian". Every language is difficult, only if you really WILL learn it you SHALL learn it!

I know americans who live in Poland and it is so funny, because they learn compering few books and talking to people.
What city are you in? Do you study in Poland?
Ha, ha any time I visit Poland I feel like a stranger. All I know is Polish language.

myLot reputation of 66/100. funkyman2007 (214)  6 years ago

This is true that in Chigago Polish people are talking in Polish-English mixed together? Like "Ale dzis byl traffic na miescie" ??? In Ireland Polish people talking that way :) They said that is Ponglish or something that.

myLot reputation of 97/100. polachicago (8508)  5 years ago

...only people who don't know English.....what is the reason for mixed lingo? ...I can speak few lingoes at the same time, but never mix them together.

myLot reputation of 52/100. stribijev (182)   ranked 3 out of 3 in learn polish language soon  5 years ago

Absolutely right you are, if a person knows 2 or more languages well, it's impossible to mix them. Even when I was a beginner in French and English I understood what language I should switch to when asked at the lesson. It is all the matter of our thinking, in order to start speaking a language, you should start thinking in this language.

For me it is simple to speak polish as i was born is Poland xD
But well hoestly after chineese ,polish is the worse one to learn!
Our language is totally irregular , with lots of crazy stuff in it which for foreighers doesnt make seanse ( like double negation ) etc.

But good luck in your Polish learning :)

polishcurl (56)   ranked 1 out of 3 in learn polish language soon  6 years ago

Thanks for that comment. Yeah I am very much interested in my polish language class. Hope I'll learn more next semester. I know a little of Chinese language since I am an asian...but really polish is worst than chinese..heheh! and a lot of crazy grammer usage and rulings.hmmmmmm.. can't wait to speak straight polish soon..I think i need to take my time.

myLot reputation of 52/100. stribijev (182)   ranked 3 out of 3 in learn polish language soon  5 years ago

Chinese must be difficult for non-Asians, it should be difficult for those who are unfamiliar with the Chinese hyroglyphics (as I am :)), but I completely disagree with the assertion that Polish is completely irregular. Reading is easy, stress can't be easier, grammar in most cases is quite clear. E.g., gender distinction: -k- is extremely productive. There is one really strange thing about Polish grammar - the category of the masculine gender, that one may observe in Plural human nouns. That is the area which requires great effort from all foreign learners. And one more curious fact: women in Plural are declined as "non-human" beings! "Widze kobiety" - I see 'what' (not 'who(m)')? The ways of languages are strange!

We can speak in Polish on MyLot? Or only in English???

polishcurl (56)   ranked 1 out of 3 in learn polish language soon  6 years ago

I think we have the freedom to speak whatever language we like here in mylot as long as there are people would understand the language and that respond us too. But just better use the english language since it is the universal language used by everyone. If you only limit yourself to Polish language, for sure you will only got few response. Thank's!

hello! i am from poland, i would say that polish is indeed difficult language. and have been always amazed that someone acctually wants to learn it. i got to know that some of our words are even used in kazahstan or somewhere there, the guy in Borat movie said something in "his" native language and it was polish alike, that made me laugh, but also proud that my language is spread to asia. (^^)V

From fermented horse urine to scandalous Borat swimwear; Borat is one of the greatest comedies that I have witnessed in an awfully long time. I can not believe that Borat has started such a commotion that Sacha Baron Cohen’s subsequent motion picture will be the accented Austrian named Bruno. Sacha Baron Cohen has developed increasingly popular for his roles as characters that are foreign and he furthermore was already incredibly popular in the United Kingdom where he has his own show named The Ali G Show. With his noticeable work in Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby and Ali G: In Da House.
Sacha Baron Cohen single handedly lifts Borat as an enormous hit of a comedy with the depictions of the Kazakhstan government to be racist, sexist, and doing ridiculous things like having thirty tons human pubis shipped to make clothing and cleaning utilities. We all know Kazakhstan actually doesn’t do all these things but it’s humorous to think about how someone can generate an environment like this film did. There are large amounts of hype about Borat, that he even appeared for a cameo on Saturday Night Live and also appeared at Comic-Con 2006 in San Diego. Sacha Baron Cohen is settling in character in interviews and innumerable publicity to endorse his motion picture. Even though I’ve seen many clips, deleted scenes, trailers, commercials, and etc. about Borat, I still consider it to be hilarious even when I was watching it.
Borat: Cultural Learnings of America to Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan is an extremely long title but suits the plot for the film very well. Borat is simply about Borat Sagdiyev which is a television reporter which travels to the U.S. and A to find out ways to better his glorious nation of Kazakhstan. In his documentary to partake in the cultural discovery, Borat shares his behaviors and his personalities about races, genders, animal rights, and countless further hilarious situations. He rallies with real life people in various situations and occupations to find out information to better his glorious nation.
Even though I truly love this film, I am discouraged that Borat is such a short film which is merely 1 hour and 22 minutes. I want an additional Borat film, whether it is a prequel or a follow-up; I just actually want to observe another Borat. The randomness of the comments and situations of Borat to other people are hilarious because of his actions that he partakes to discover learning’s to benefit his country. But can this movie really be that offensive? I don’t think so. If you are willing to believe that a government like Kazakhstan really does this than I don’t know what else to tell you. One thing I do recognize is that after the debut of this film and when moviegoers watch this film. People will be imitating the actions and accent of Borat and quoting him line by line because "it's niice".
If you do not like the following jokes: racist, making fun of animals, the mentally challenged, Kazakhstan, family, and the list goes on. Than just don’t watch it if your offensive to this crude humor satire that is hilarious to me because a lot of moviegoers are willing to watch this.
You can tell a lot about somebody by his reaction to this film.

It's not all that surprising that the few reviewers who don't like "Borat" tend to be exactly the sorts of people Sascha Cohen targets in the film for their ignorance and bigotry. Nobody likes being laughed at, regardless of how much s/he deserves it. So you get reviewers admitting that "America is falling apart from the inside," but transferring their outrage onto "foreigners" like Cohen for making essentially the same observation. It's like people who think the problem with the Iraq War is the "liberal media."

Cohen as Borat is hilarious because he perfectly imitates what he's making fun of. But the real comedy consists in the reactions he gets from stupid people by convincing them that he's "on the team." One of the best moments in the film is when he yells "We support your war of terror" through a bullhorn at a Virginia rodeo, and the crowd goes nuts with enthusiasm. They don't "get it" until he starts mangling the national anthem. These are people who never understand the substance of anything, who only react to symbolism.

"Borat" is full of moments like this - in fact, it's relentless. But it works precisely because Cohen never actually shows his hand. He doesn't directly attack misogynists, antisemites, homophobes, American imperialists, etc - instead he pretends to be sympathetic to them. He sets them up and then lets them obliviously write the punchlines. He's almost like the anti-Jeff Foxworthy - "You know you're a redneck if you take me seriously."

One thing you keep hearing with regard to this movie is that "it's not for the faint hearted," etc. Perhaps not; but the brilliant thing is, this sort of comedy actually does provoke thought by getting people to laugh at their own character flaws. It's never preachy, but it makes its point, and there really is quite a bit of intelligence behind the ridiculously crude humor. I'd recommend it to anybody capable of getting into an R movie. If you ask me, "American Pie" was ten times as "offensive" and not even a tenth as funny without having any point whatsoever.

Hi! Polish is very strange, difficult language:P Example: try to say: "gzegzólka" :D
I think you should to read lots of polish text, listen to polish radio, tv and of course people. Try to find good course books. You might also be interested in learning Polish in Poland. If you have big problems with learning I think the best solution will be language course.
Polish includes many words taken from other languages. These include: Russian, Latin, French, German, Italian, and English.
The Polish alphabet has 32 letters, 9 vowels and 23 consonants:
a,a,b,c,c,d,e,e,f,g,h,i,j,k,l,m,n,n,o,ó,p,r,s,s,t,u,w,y,z,z,z
The letters q,v,x are not normally used in the Polish language except in words taken from English and other languages, e.g., fax, veto, cv.
Polish is often said to be one of the most difficult languages for English speakers to learn. Particulary difficult is the pronunciation of sounds, and the complex gender system (with five genders!)
