Do you consider having someone with down syndrome in the family lucky?

I think God gives special children to special families. I think they were chosen because they are able to cope with it. Some people are not and Down's children are beautiful and sweet always.

I don't quite agree with your chosen word "luck" =). I'd rather say that God often if not always gives special cases to special people. It doesn't mean that person is greater than the rest of us. It doesn't mean that person has higher qualification than us. But simply because God has chosen to display His love and greatness through that person.
I watched I Am Sam movie, about a mentally-challenged man to fight for the custody of his daughter. And it struck me of how much I've often been ungrateful for what I have that it takes someone who seems to have much less of everything than me to wake me up of how actually that person has so much more than me. And I think so it does with all the down-syndrome babies. They have bigger heart than us =)

my nephew, baby josh has down syndrome. we love him so much and we never ever felt ashamed of his condition. he is special in so many ways and he's been a blessing to our family. God has his reasons for everything. let's just be thankful for everything that GOD has given us.

While that is certainly true ( down's children are beautiful and sweet always) , I don't consider a family that has to deal with teasing and bullying and misunderstanding as lucky. It's very hard to have a child with down's syndrome, and it gets even more difficult as that child grows into a semblance of adulthood. While I would think that it would make any family stronger, and more bonded, and more patient. I would not say that they were lucky. Perhaps you think this view is closed minded, but I have been a counsellor for many families that have a down's child, and the hardships they face are anything but good.
