Does Anyone Give Their Cat a Bath?  

This will actually be a good test to see if people actually read the discussions, although that is not how I intended it. I was curious about how to get a cat to cooperate, because they do have minds of their own, as any cat owner can attest to. Then i got the joke in e-mail and figured I would add it on. People who are cat lovers can appreciate the cat humor!

I don't think anyone would really try that on their cat. I would hope not anyway the poor cat would be scared!

I wouldn't want to be the one who had to try to hold the cat. They get pretty strong when they're challenged. Not to mention that their teeth are like little needles. I imagine you could get pretty messed up, even if they are de-clawed.

It is tricky. You basically need to hold them at the back of the neck and keep one hand on the butt to keep them in the tub. Yeah you can get messed up if you aren't careful. Now our one just makes a mess with it but doesn't hurt anyone. He just gets away from my neice when she bathes him, braver girl then me to do it alone, so the bathroom ends up soaked but she gets it done.

I think I'll just let my cat clean himself. I don't know if I could deal with trying to fight with him.

I would feel so bad if some loser actually tried this! I can't believe that you can get your cat near the shower. Mine is such a sissy. He doesn't go near running water, and he would never willingly go in the shower. If fact if he's in the bathroom when I turn the shower on to heat up the water, he takes off like a lunatic.

Yeah, I hope animal abusers dont do that either. It would be awful

It sounds as if our cats could be related! Mine doesn't even sneak outside often; I think that he would have a meltdown if his paws ever got dirty!

yeah, we joke that our cat is very vain. He has to make himself pretty on a daily basis.

ALL cats are very vain, its in their nature to look cute. My cat washes himself constantly. I don't think he ever really need a bath more than once a year.

Marie, I laughed so hard reading this post. I'm sorry that you had to give Tequilla up, and hopefully he went to a good home where he continue to be spoiled! This is such unusual behavior for a cat! I can just picture mine paddling around in the water trying to get out! Mine doesn't like the bathtub, but he's still weird- he eats canned mushrooms and thinks they're a delicacy!

he he he, yeah he was a great cat and i know for a fact that he got to go to < really good home, unfortunately it is far away so therés no way for me to visit him =(

7 of them? You are an animal lover! Isn't it amazing how they can come up with that blood-curdling meow? They're such drama queens!

I was going to try it just because when you think of it, he's 11 years old and never had a bath. Sounds gross. But he has never been outside, and I just don't want to torture him. I do leave the toilet seat down all the time, because I'm afraid that he'll drink from it and get a mouthful of the tank cleaner or he'll be dumb enough to fall in!

You're right- they do a good job keeping themselves clean. Maybe they were made that way because they hate the water so much! Mine is the same way about having water on him. I have a water bottle that I spray him with if he gets on the counters or kitchen table (should I say if I catch him there), and he flips out with that.

The part about placing him in a toilet was a JOKE. No one would do that, I hope. That would be cruel.

I think that I would do that every week if he went outside. Who knows what they get into out there! With all of the scary things that they see outside, you would think that they could deal with a little bit of water once in a while!
