Does ambian or lunesta do any thing for you? I just can't seem to sleep and I took a ambien in hopes that it might work this time. What do you suggest? What is your experience in sleep aids. I find that if I just take benadryl (which is what is in most over the counter sleep aids) works somwhat

There is a whole list of side effects, you should have NO caffeeine in the evening and is also known as zolpidem. There is a chance of rebound insomnia for taking this and then stopping. Not sure why you would put yourself through all this. Using Benedryl affects your breathing passages too. Still not sure what you are using these things. I use Calms Forte from the Health food store. Passiflor, Oats, hops, Chamomile, and some minerals. Seems like something like this or the teas would be much more beneficial for helping you to sleep and maybe ease those panic attacks. Hope this gives you something to think about!

I used to take no medication at all for all of my problems, sicking to herbal remedies. I find now, that most of the medications like the Lexapro (I don't realy regret using it becuase the panic attack were so bad and I had tried every thing herbal) made me gain 50 pounds, and I think make me irregular in regards to my cycle. I have used valarian, hops or kavakava for the sleep and panic. It works for only four hours at time for me. So, I am looking into other herbs that will help. Right now I am taking Vitex and evening primrose oil to see if it will regulate my cycle. I have been taking this for a month, but not at the full dosage, so it could be I am not taking enough. Vitex is a slow acting herb that works over a period of a few months, so I won't know anything until March. I hope it works. If you have any other ideas, please post or email me. !!!! Thanks a bunch

I have tried Ambien, but it didn't help. I haven't tried Lunesta...because I just stay up late anyways. If I play a meditation CD, then I can get to sleep about 3am. But I still only get a few hours then because I have to be up early in the morning for the kids. But if I can sleep in, I hit the play button on the CD often. It does really help. But you have to find the right CD. I have a few I had to go through before I found the right one. No words to the music and sounds.

I found that benadryl works great, but I have trouble waking up in the morning and have that "hung over" feeling. I take ambien when I need it. the 5 mg. does nothing, but the 10 mg. works well for me and I wake up without difficulty and feel fine. The only problem with ambien is that if something happens to awaken you after a few hours, like the telephone or the cat jumping on your head, you may find that you are totally awake and unable to get back to sleep. It's as if a switch goes off and all of a sudden it's not working. I haven't tried any other prescription sleep aids because I really don't want to get too used to them. I understand your frustration, though. Insomnia is horrible (it's why I'm here typing this at 1:30 am!!). About Lunesta- I've heard from several people that a side effect is a very horrible taste in your mouth for several hours the next day. These people said that this was bad enough for them not to want to take it any more.

I take Ambiew CR when I need a sleeper and I'm fast asleep within ten minutes and sleep a full 8-9 hours. I've tried the benedryl, but it doesn't help any longer than about 3 hrs. I think they're made to just work 34 hours.

Having problem in sleeping is quite a serious matter but try not to take some intake medications because they all had side effects in you body, I think. But if you can't really sleep, maybe its fine then. In my case, I always get myself tired for the whole day and go to bed as early as possible to have a long enough sleep.

I do not take any sleeping pills, so I would not know for sure how those work on me. Sorry, I hope you find something that would work for you.
