I am working as a transcriptionist for a BPO company here in our country. I am a general transcriptionist. So you may be wondering, "What is a general transcriptionist?" Well basically, my job is to transcribe everything that I hear from an audio or video file that is assigned for me. It may sound easy, but imagine having an old movie with the worst audio and you have to get every little word that the characters are saying. All I have to do is type in the words in a word processor and submit it after I have checked it for accuracy.
There are many kinds of transcriptionist. Medical transcriptionists transcribe the audio recordings made by doctors which will then serve as a patient's record. There are also legal transcriptionists.
So what does it take to be a good transcriptionist? Well, first, you must be have good hearing. You must have a wide-range of vocabulary since you will be typing words, mostly in english. Than, you must be able to type really fast. Average speed acceptable for a transcriptionist is 50 words and above and must have an accuracy of 87% up.

Hi, I am a freelance transcriber and I am currently building a team of home-based transcribers to help me with overflow work. I currently have 4 transcribers in my team but I still need more. If you are interested, you may add me on Skype (ID: prettyhagad) so we can discuss the details.
