who was better "eddie van halen" or jimi hendrix  

Jimi Hendrix was an incredibly talented musician, so is Eddie Van Halen. What Jimi has over Eddie Van Halen is his songwriting skills. Jimi's music and lyrics were sheer poetry. Jimi is about soul, Eddie Van Halen is about flash. Jimi is a musician and a poet, Eddie is a talented guitarist who has talent but just doesn't 'speak' to me.

I'd give Jimi 10 out of 10. I wouldn't rate Eddie Van Halen either positively or negatively, I can see he's a talented musician but his music just doesn't reach out to me.

I LOVE EDDIE, Jimmi Hendrix was aamazing as well. I just prefer Van Halens style of music.

It is difficult to compare these two. They both had their great moments in two different time eras, both of their music are different, & even their styles are very different.

Jimi Hendrix was a pioneer in that he was one of the first in hard rock / heavy metal. I'm sure that if Eddie Van Halen listed all his influences, Jimi Hendrix would be on that list.

Only way to find out who is really better is for Eddie to try doing everything Jimi has done, & if Jimi was still alive today, have him try to do everything that Eddie has done.

Both are real masters but i still will vote for Jimi Hendrix

Hi debzonline. I would have to give Jimi Hendrix a definite advantage over Eddie Van Halen. I like both but hendrix changed the face of guitar playing in way that I am even sure he is on the list of Eddie's list of inspirational guitarists.
