I was wonder how many of you were passed into the next grade that never really understood the grade that you were in? In todays world I believe that teachers are just wanting to do their jobs and not wanting to see that a child learns what they are taught. My sister that passed away in 1994 was in the 4th grade for 4 years because she could not compehand what she was being taught when she was little she had what my parents call brain fevers and that made her slow in a lot of ways.I failed ,first third and sixth the sixth we move right before school was out the third was because I had so many operations and could only go a 1/2 a day and the first it was because of my teacher and do to the fact that I had to walk to catch the bus and I wore braces then so my mom kept me home in the winter and the teacher was suppose to send my home work home with my sister that school we went to had grades 1 through 6th. in one room and I am not a shame too admit it but that was abck before they invented pencils LOL

The educational system is definitely going down the drain these days. At first I could hardly believe it, when this woman I met in the province told me that her older brother hurdled high school without even acquiring sufficient reading skills. It seems to me like what counts most in schools nowadays, is for a student to record a 100% attendance in order to pass.
For your case, I've been wondering whether these types of illness is prevalent in your family. Or, if I am getting it wrong, is it your disabilities which has hindered you from attending school? The way I see it, you and your sister's cases are not the very common state of health kids in school have. These kids therefore, do not possess the same reasons as you do, for missing school days.

I never failed till i got to highschool and that was because i always skipped to hang out back with "the cool kids". lol. that was a mistake. but my brother had that happen. they have something called a "social pass". so if you fail a grade twice, ding ding ding, you win a prize! you get a free pass to the next grade. he did that with grade 6 and 7. and then pretty much quit. i feel bad that i was his role model and i wasn't a good one by all means. bad me.

As in any job I am sure that there are some bad teachers, but I still think that most are trying their best to do a difficult job.
I am a teacher myself and I put a lot of effort into preparing the work for my classes, answering their questions and trying to help them. Some people appreciate this and others don't.
What do you mean when you talk about special students they want to help? It's true I spend more time helping some students than others, but that is because they ask me for help. When I set work I often ask students how they are going and if I get responses such as "I'm just reading" or "I'm fine" then I move onto the next student as you can't force someone to accept help.

I am talking about students that are not as dressed smart as the other student or whose students parents donate to the school I am not saying that all teaches are that way some of them yes and I am so sorry if I stepped on your toes in saying that My sister Ruth was in the 4th grade for 4 years because she could not understand the promblems and the teacher kept wanting to send her to the fifth grade and my parents told the teacher not to pass her on if she could not get the 4th grade how was she going to get the 5th
