Ok, so we're in the process of looking for a new truck. Not brand new, but probably 2002-2005. It's narrowed down to either a Toyota Tacoma or a Nissan, they look fairly similar quality. Nissans are a bit cheaper. I'd love any opinions on these trucks if you own one, or if you happen to be one of those auto expert types who knows what's good! We don't really need 4x4, but my husband would like it, the truck will mostly be for driving to work and travelling across the province to visit family... We need a truck, not a car, as he kayaks and mountain bikes and uses the back a lot. So what do you think is better, the Tacoma or a Nissan?

I have owned both types: My 1987 Nissan Kingcab was a 5 speed 2wd it was a great little truck for a single man. The mpg was around 17 and I only had one problem with it. The lifters went bad, but it was covered under warranty! My current truck is a 2001 Toyota Pre-Runner 2wd. I have 129,000 miles on it and have had no problems...knock on wood! Anyhow, I bought this because I need more room for my family. Oh, it also looks like a 4wd so you can have the best of both! Good luck,

Thanks! I think we'll probably be going for a Nissan Frontier, maybe a 2004. It'll take a lot of looking around and comparing, but hopefully we can find one that seems right for us...

We bought a Nissan Titan last May. I love it. I did not like the way they looked before we bought it but after I drove it, I changed my mind. My husband put's his dirt bike's on it and it still drive's like a charm. I would pick the Nissan.
