I have in the past mentored 8 trainee teachers in Maths. All of them have thus far been employed. However I would like to get unbiased feedback from trainee teachers about their mentors so that I can better help my trainees in future. Anyone have any experiences you would like to share? It doesn't have to be you. You can relate experiences from other people about their mentors and how they can be of help during the training period.

When I was training to be a teacher I had some mentors who just let me get on with it - that made life easy but didnt do much for my professional development. My favourite mentor was one who set me weekly targets or tasks - nothing too intense, but for example he would give me something important to read and then we would discuss our views on it the next week.

I am a former teacher. And I have handled student-teacher trainee in the School I used to work. I love it. I love the feeling of being able to share your knowledge and to see them getting inspired. I think you are doing a good job. I miss it anyway because I am now married and a stay-at-home wife. I need mentoring on being a new wife.
