Vegan Pizza?

Canada

Ok, so on a vegetarian pizza, it's totally veggies, except the cheese...milk product in use. So for anyone out there that is a Vegan and cannot use cheese, what do you use or do you just not eat pizza? I noticed that in the local grocery store there is a veggie shred product which I assume is to take the place of the cheese for vegans, but haven't looked to see if it was purely vegan.

I was vegan for a brief period of time, but I am also lactose intolerant, so I have some extended experience avoiding dairy. My suggestion ask to have the pizza made without cheese. A pizza with just sauce and mushrooms and peppers can be more than enjoyable. Now I don't know if this counts as strictly vegan, as the dough may contain whey. You may have to ask for the ingredient list of the dough. Hope that is useful.

pizza - vegan pizza
I think they just eat cheese free pizza. cheeseless even. I worked in pizza shops where people would order pizza with NO CHEESe. i've tried it and its still good without the cheese.

I love vegetarian pizza with lots of cheese. However a vegan cannot eat the cheese. They use soy products instead.

You can use soy cheese or some other type of vegitable based cheese for the cheese topping. I have heard of this, and I have tatsed it and could tell a major differnce. I am not vegan, but had a mother who could not have that.

Yeah, I was thinking on buying the "veggie shreds" the other day at the store, but I was worried about not liking it as well.

well I've never really realized that most people don't realize that cheese if from cow on a veggy pizza I used to work at a vegetarian restaurant and our pizza did not contain cheese our burger did not contain meat or cheese so I guess if you want a real veggy pizza you will have to find a restaurant that caters for true vegetarian, I did not know that burger and pizza could taste so good with out meat and cheese and they do have veggy cheese made from soy milk

Thanks for the input. I have seen "veggie shreds" in the grocery store here for those that cannot have cheese, and I guess they sell really well. :)
