The Squid and the Whale

i saw this movie recently and I walked away with a bad taste in my mouth. Not only was it dark and depressing, but I didn't like the ending at all. I realize this was autobiographical and if the person's life was truly life that, then I am deeply sorry for them. But the movie could have been done better in my opionion. Did anyone out there like this movie? I am actually a big Jeff daniels fan and although his acting was well done, I still didn't care for the movie. Am I missing something?

Never heard or read about The Squid and the Whale before, but when looked up in imdb for The Squid and the Whale, this movie has a good rating and a good user review. Everyone have there own opinion after seeing a movie, you didn't like it that's all...
