As far as I know the only way to overcome this is practice, practice, and more practice. I know how frustrating it can be. But eventually, I have definitely made progress by just calmly bringing myself back to my visualization every time I notice my mind wandering. No getting annoyed or berating myself, just coming back again and again. I know some people prefer focusing on a real flame or something but to me that's more distracting than anything else. The more my senses are deprived, the better I do.

Either a butterfly or an apple usually. The butterfly is a little too busy and complex most of the time. I have better luck with the apple. Sometimes I try visualizing a flame, but that falls somewhere between the other two for me. I think it's the motion that distracts me.

you have to focus you just practice for a few minutes and clear your mind of everything so that you cant see anything so when you lose concentration you just try and think of nothing again

You can have a look at the book called 'The Creative Visualization' by Shakti Gawain. Its a fantastic book and will give you a lot of effective methods. When you visualize dont force anything. Dont focus on oh my brain is wandering. Just witness it as if you are watching a movie.
