I hate watage.especially food.being binned..when i see so much food in the garbage it freaks me out knowing so many people are dying..i think too many parents spoil their kids..and the kids grow up very picky..i know we all have preferrred tastes but i can't take the waste of food..for me it is one of thos hidden crimes we have all been prone too..i try really hard not to waste food..how about you?look at this.. Britons throw away third of food Garbage bin One third of food ends up in the garbage bin Around one third of food grown for human consumption in the UK ends up in the rubbish bin, new figures reveal. Statistics from the government and food industry show each adult wastes food to the value of £420 each year. Changes in people's habits and scares over food safety are helping wastage to increase by 15% every decade, the BBC's Costing the Earth found. The government adviser on food and farming, Lord Haskins, said the figures were outrageous."I think it reflects on all of us. It is the worst side of us as consumers," he told the BBC."Excess of affluence means that we think food is cheap, and therefore we can throw it away."We are very greedy when we go and shop. Our eyes are bigger than stomachs in homes and in restaurants. Call me stingy if you will, but if I've paid for it, I eat it! Tony Fisk Have Your Say Saving food from waste"We are pretty idle when we have food left over in our houses. We can't be bothered to deal with leftovers."We are risk averse. We're obsessed with sell-by dates, so that we throw away perfectly good food which happens to be out of code."Time shortage BBC rural affairs correspondent Tom Heap said demands for "pristine looking" produce means a lot of food does not make the grade and never leaves the farm gate. People are eating out more and the catering industry throws away one third of all they buy, he said. A lack of time or knowledge to use up leftovers is also to blame for increasing food wastage. Observers say scares over food safety means people bin food too readily. Costing the Earth, on BBC Radio 4 at 2100 BST, Thursday 14 April, will take an in-depth look at the issue.

I agree, in our country their are so many kids begging on streets for food too. I hve a maid that works for me so that she can live in my servant quarters withoput paying amy money for electricity , rent or water. Her son works as a gurd in our colony itself. I keep giving her whatever is leftover and I am an army wife so we gewt ration from the government , I give her that too. I always say, no matter how hard we find to pay our bills, its harder for her. Now With my daughter, her work load has increased so I am paying her 400 Rs.(INR rupeees) to that will be 4$ approx. in dollars. I give out my clothes my kids clothes and my hubby's clothes to her too, she keeps distributing that to her daughter and her kids too. That way nothing goes waste and someone always benefits. I doanted all the toys nd clothes of my son to an orphanage last year before I had my daughter as I thought now I am never going to have another one. Now since I am not planning to have any more, each month I am giving whatever I can of her stuff too. Thats the best way I think to utilise all these things.

yeah i agree with you.i have seen on discovery channel thata people in some country dying because lack of food.i don't waste food in anyway.i take what i can finish.since childhood my parents and family member used to tell us that we must not waste food..it is sin and god will punish.so those words had been stuck in my mind and i really hate if one waste food.in my family if some food is left after meal...we give it to beggar or to street dogs.we don't throw it in dustbin.
