What Valentines Day means to a 5 year old!!!!  

LOL...Yes i think that it is awesome plus it gave my daughter and i something else to do together. Well, i watched she did all of the work ... LOL! Happy Valentines Day!!

you are absolutely right.They have grown much what we used to be in our own times.Now they have their own prince or princess in their mind .So i think they also have that warm feeling of V Day as we now.

Here they usually have little parties in grade school for Valentine's Day. They don't emphasize the mushy stuff, lol, but they exchange cards and get a snack or treat of some kind.

Well ever since i can remember we always had a special Valentine's Day party with snacks and games. Valentine's Day does not have to emphasize love in just a romantic and intimate way because that is not what love is i mean think about it!

LOL....I for one am with you as i used to be exactly the same way. She is very adept for her age yes and she is just in general a very mature, and intelligent little girl and i thank the lord for her everyday that i have her!!!

I know she has her bag all packed and ready with all of her snacks she is taking for her class party. All her valentines cards are in a big envelope and all ready for her to give out. She was so excited while filling them out yesturday that it really brought back alot of my own memories!!

I guess i have to say that she is alot like me when it comes to her enjoying writing and drawing. I always get her scribblers and notebooks that she is always drawing, coloring and writing in! When i watch her sit there so intune to what she is doing it always reminds me of myself!!!

LOL....Yes i agree and i was so shocked to see how well she got them all filled out and how she insisted on doing it alone.... LOL!! I remember Valentines Day clearly too as a kid and how excited i used to get!!

A child doesn't know what Valentines Day is yet, but that doesn't matter as long as the child is having fun and enjoying themselves. The true meaning of Valentines Day won't come until they're much older. Until then, let's not analize everything. Let kids be kids, OK?

Holy you are obviously not a mother and very obnoctiously rude and you need to s**t up until you know what you are talking about. I want to say a whole lot more but i think i will spare you from being told off today and for your information a 5 year old knows more about love than you ever will. Not only that since when is Valentines Day just for old people like you that are just trying to get laid and use being romantic for an excuse??? Valentine's Day is for children more than adults its for them to pass out cards to each other and have a special day to show their friendship it isn't only intamacy and i think you need to give your head a shake!!

lavin12 I would love to know if you have children. Love is not only for family but there is also love, a differnt kind of love, for our friends. Have you never heard of puppy love or childhood sweetheart? If not I actually feel bad for your...and your children.

Lavin12.....if you did not find Valentine Day an important part of growing up my guess is you feel the same today. It has always been an important thing to learn as a child and yes they do know what love is.

And you better beleive they know when they are not loved also. Don't they?

I would also ask what country you live in. Perhaps this is not someting you celabrate at all.

I dont know how you can think a child does not understand the concept of love. They feel the most natural and innocent love that they recieve and give to their parents. They are capable of loving. They know truer love than some adults know!

So really - is that any better than adults making Valentines Day about sex? It's not.

Children do know what love is - look at all the movies they watch - Cinderella, Alladin, Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty. Every thing has a theme of love. THey know what love is even if they haven't experienced it!

Yes I do agree. Now she doesn't know the exact meaning of "valentine's day". But definitely she can feel her friends love toward her. In future it will definitely be a charming memory for her.

I agree that this will be a very treasured memory to un bury for her in the future!!!
