Advantage Flea Product-Do You Think It's Safe?   

That stuff is very potent. I don't give it to my cats, as they don't go outside. No flea problems so far. Just call the vet, and don't go in. Explain you cannot afford it, and what can be done. That would be the best thing to do.

You've got to be extremely careful when applying that stuff on your cat. And you really should take your cat to the vet asap about the diarrhea, it could mean the difference between life and death.

Anyhow, my vet prescribed Advantage for both of my cats, and so far, I've successfully applied it on Columbus. I'd approach him, gently talk to him, and apply the Advantage Best place is right between the shoulders, where the cat cannot scratch or lick it. So far, knock wood, the cat is doing fine and no longer scratches. I haven't applied it to Waffles yet because she is so skittish and I am afraid that she will get it in the wrong place. So I'm biding my time. If I still don't have any luck, I'll have to try to take her to the vet to have the medication applied professionally.

I notice that this discussion was started about a month ago. How is your cat now. We do use advantage on my cats. We live in the county and there are fleas. We use it once a month all year long. Even though our cats are not allowed outside, fleas come into the home on your clothes and shoes. If you live where there is fleas, you do need to keep your pets protected. You need to make sure you get the advantage where the cat cannot lick it off. That is important.

My husband just made me a purple martin house for Christmas. I am really excited because Purple Martin is the only bird that will eat fleas. If we can get them to built in the new bird house, that should eleminate the flea problem. Until then we will continue to use the Advantage
