Did anyone else think this city smelled like rotten sewer?

dont' get me wrong it was an interesting at times beautiful place to visit but at times I was washed over by the sewer smell. I'v heard one other woman say that she smelled it too. anyone else?

I think most cities smell like that. New York and Philadelphia sure do.
