I was shopping in Walmart last night with my daughter, looking for digital cameras. On the way to the electronics department, I decided to make a detour down the aisle that had all of the cute Valentine's Day stuffed animals. There was a lady there, by herself, listening to this adorable musical cat on a Harley Davidson motorcycle--I think he was singing "Born To Be Wild". I commented on how cute it was, and she turned around, agreeing with me. Then she asked me if she could tell me about something very special. I told her to go ahead and tell me (since I LOVE stuff like this!). She then told me that the man that she had fallen in love with over 40 years ago, but was unable to stay with because of both sets of parents not liking them together, had finally found her and asked her to marry him!(I had to drag it out of her as to whether she said 'yes'--and of course, she had accepted.)
This lady had already buried 3 husbands, and thought that the abovementioned gentleman had passed away, himself. Somehow, he had found her daughter who, in turn, gave him the address and phone number of her mother. But she called her first, telling her that someone from her past was looking for her, and when the lady found out it was him, had to sit down and absorb the fact that her very first love was still alive. They met up a few days later and got reacquainted. But then he had to go back to work out of state. They have been keeping in touch by phone every day. The last thing she told me before I had to go, was that he had sent her a package, and called her and told her to be sitting down when she opened it, and that it was a very special surprise! She thinks it might be an engagement or wedding ring! I ended up giving her a great big hug and congratulations, and told her that she just made my day.
So with that all said, and even though it is a few days early, Happy Valentine's Day everyone. May you all receive as much love and as many blessings as our friend who found her long lost love.
