my rof has exressed attraction to one of the students in our class and weve noticed how he gives high grades to her. yeah, shes smart, but not EVERYTIME... shes always getting the highest grade when the basis for it was teachers disgression. what should i do if the rest of the class doesnt seem to care about fair grade-giving as long as they pass the subject the prof seems not to know how to give a grade that each of us REALLY DESERVES).

I am a teacher and I am sure that people may have felt they have received an unfair grade from me at times - it goes with the job. Yes it is often the same few students who get the highest grades, but that is because they deserve them, not because they are my favourites. If the other students don't care, could it be because they think they are getting fair grades and you are the only one who is unhappy? The only thing I can advise is for you to approach your teacher, but politely rather than in a confrontational manner. Ask them for feedback, or for explanations as to why you received a particular grade or for tips in improving your work. I would certainly respond to this approach as would most teachers I know. I give my students exercises designed to increase their skills at interpreting and answering questions.

I am an Education student... and I am a teacher too (but of the Out of School Youth in a remote area). I was trained to give fair measurements and evaluation of my students... Its just that he is one of my professors this semester and my friends who were his former students warned me about his scrupulos ways. I didn't give a damn at first, but I have been noticing lately that they were right. That this prof has confessed attractions to some of this then current students and that he exercises favoritism. Now that I have proven their accusations against him, I do not know how to deal with it because no one in the class wants to cooperate with me (they enjoy his corrupt handling of the class because we seldom meet, and if we do, we always start two hours behind the class schedule - they loved his laziness). There was also this time when he was requiring me to watch a play ALONE with him to a theater which is three hours from my hometown. I refused, and that's when I became watchful of him. Honestly, I do not know how to approach him. I am repulsive of his presence since the "required play" incident.

Well, sometimes, I don't mind. But when it comes in giving grades, I just want a fair share. Maybe, I'll just do my best in my studies. Whether I become the favorite of the teacher or not, what matters is my own performance.
