Do you keep a winter car emergency kit in your vehicle?

I was just watching the Weather Channel this evening to find out about this possible storm coming. During the forecast they mentioned the importance of having a winter car emergency kit should your car stall or you get stuck somewhere. Does anyone have an emergency kit in their car? If so, what do you have in your kit? I do not have a kit in my car but am definitely going to round up some things just in case. Here is a link to a website that was looking at to see what items are needed. http://www.roadandtravel.com/carcare/winterkit.htm

You should not feel bad for not having a kit in your car as I have a feeling many of us do not have one either, including myself. I am going to start putting things together tomorrow just in case something happens. I am glad that you found this post helpful. :-)

Yes, we do. I will post a discussion with it in it. I have already posted it to gather so it will be easy to post it here. I just posted a discussion on family preparedness earlier today.

That is great to hear that you have an emergency kit in your car. I should have one in my car as I used to be in Boy Scouts and they always told us to "Be Prepared." :-)

No emergency kit in my car. If i were to keep one in my car, I would not have an area in the back for groceries because I have seven kids. You should have seen what we loaded up for just a weekend to Grandma's that leaves 3 hours away! LOL We had a car full and a luggage carrier on top! ha ha If there is a storm coming...we are staying home. LOL

That is the best way to stay safe. :-) Good idea to just stay home and not worry about the problems that could arise. You definitely need space in the car for your groceries and kids. :-)

No I don't really have to worry about this the winter is no worse than any other day here. I do however always keep a few things for any car emergency. I keep 1 2 liter bottle of water, tire pump that runs off the lighter, jumper cables, inflate a tire, flashlight, first aid kit, srewdrivers, wrench, hammer. All these things would help no matter the weather.

My winter "survival" kit stays in my vehicle all the time. I have 1. shovel 2. kitty litter...gives good traction under tires 3.booster cables 4.emergency candles 5.matches 6.extra warm clothing. ..gloves, jackets, mitts, socks 7.thermal blankets. 8. flares and refectors 9.flashlight 10. box or 2 of granola bars. 11.lock deicer 12.gasline antifreeze 13.extra oil 14.extra antifreeze 15. hot pockets...snap and they get warm good for in gloves or boots. 16.NEVER NEVER NEVER let your gas gauge go below half. 17. tow cable 18 first aid kit 19 fire extinguisher Since I have a truck and live on a farm I have a slip tank of diesel and can refuel it I need to. I know this is cheating but it is necessary to have since I often drive out to the fields to refuel equipment. Another cheat that I have is a 2 way radio in case there is no cell service. I am going to check you link to see if I am missing anything.
