Valentine's Day

Yes, I celebrate Valentine's day.

History? Well, I only read it in a newspaper yesterday. There are three stories in the history that states the origin of Valentine's day.

First, is that Valentine who eventually became a saint. He is said to be a priest before. In their place (i forgot the name of it.), men are not allowed to get married because they are used as soldiers to fight for their teritory. but Valentine secretly officiate weddings for those couple who want to get married. Until it was found out by their leader. He sacrifice his life because of that.

The second one goes something like this. valentine helped people during some troubled times in the past. He sacrificed his life to help other people.

The third one is like this. Valentine got jailed for some reasons. When in jail, he meet a woman, who happens to be a daughter of one of his jailmate. He fell inlove with her. Before he die, Valentine wrote a love letter to that woman saying his love for her. And in the end of the letter states, "from your Valentine".

And that is why it is called Valentine's Day.

I try to celebrate the reason not the day specifically. I think celebrating the love of your life is great but that all the rest is just marketing. Read the history of St Valentine and you have your answer. He was persecuted but Loved as God requires.
