I make my own soap all the time. I use it to wash my face also. I find that it is easier on my face. Just remember that if you do experience a burning sensation or you notice redness. It isn't the glycerin soap it is more than likely the colorant or the fragrance. What I do when I make my soap for my face is I just melt the base and usually put a little color ( not always) and no scent as I am just trying to get my face really clean. But my soap I put in the shower I put scent and color. I hope that this helps.

Soap is made in two parts, lye and water, plus a mixture of oils. The two don’t combine easily, so they must be brought to similar temperatures. Lye and water get very hot when mixed, so the mixture must cool before being added to the oils.
The oils must be gently heated. The oil is nowhere near hot enough to cook with, but still, please do not start any fires. Every oil has a different saponification index, which is a measure of how much lye is required to turn that oil into soap. This means, if you run out of coconut oil, don’t go replacing it with olive oil.
Lye is VERY caustic, so don’t get any on your skin. It also gives off nasty fumes, so use goggles and very good ventilation or a respirator.

That's really cool that you made your own soap. I've made my own soap before too. I still have a ton of soap making products. We used to sell it at craft shows.
Anyway, you should probably use an olive oil or avocado glycerin for your face... but here is what you should do - use the soap you made on your face for about two weeks. That's how long it takes for your skin to get used to a new product. After a couple weeks see how your skin feels. If it feels ok or good - keep using your soap. If not, save your soap for your body and buy some cleanser. I personally use cleanser on my face... www.lush.com Fresh Farmacy or Aquamarina... but my brother uses plain soap and his skin is ok.

As long as it was made correctly then it will be fine to use on your face. I personally don't use my homemade soap on my face because I used a medicated face wash. I have very bad skin and the soap that I make is not medicated or made specially for the face. The oils and such on the face is very different than those on the body.
You can always try it out, if it doesn't help keep your face clear then switch to a specialty cleanser. My husband just uses the regular soap on his face except for about once a week when he uses a facial scrub. This works great for him.
