Ear candling. Have you heard of it?

Was just browsing online when I came across this site. I had never heard of this treatment before and wondered if anyone else had.
How do Hopi Ear Candles work?
The candles are made from the natural ingredients of beeswax, honey extracts, sage, St Johns Wort, chamomile, beta-carotene and organically grown flax. A constant high quality is ensured. The candles work on a chimney principle, drawing any impurities to the surface where they can be gently removed. They equalise the pressure in the head and ears, making them suitable for most conditions. Secretion flow is gently stimulated and the vapour collects and removes impurities or deposits. Most of these are carried away through the candle "chimney", although some of them can be found in the condensed candle wax residue after removal from the ear, or could even work their way up to the surface 24-48 hours after.
What are Hopi Ear Candles used for?
Though results may vary from patient to patient, some of my clients have reported Hopi Candles to be helpful with:
Excessive or compacted wax in the ears (see patients comments)
Irritation in ears and sinuses
Pressure regulation in cases of : sinusitis / rhinitis / glue ear / colds / flu / headaches / migraine
Stimulation of local and reflex energy flow
Energetic revitalisation in cases of hearing impairment
Relaxing and calming effect in cases of stress
Noises in the ears, ringing, tinnitus

I don't know if this is the same thing but I had something like that done to me in China. If you go to a salon in shanghai, they give you full service..hair nails face ears..the lot of it. So anyways, this girl puts something long and thin into my ear and lights it on the other end and stuff comes up! It was fun!

Haha No no, it wasn't painful at all. When they insert it into your ear, you just feel this weird tingly sensation, kinda fun. You sit there for about a few minutes more while the girl does her thing on both ears and when she's done, you get to see all your earwax inside the tube. It is kinda gross to look at though haha

I've heard of it and I think I might know someone who had it done. Or, at least, they had something similar done by an actual MD or nurse and it worked pretty good. I wouldn't recommend it due to the possible dangerousness of it.

There is no proof ear candles do anything besides pose a dangerous risk for significant damage.
From a professional standpoint, it sounds absolutely ridiculous. To consumers, however, some of it sounds like the answer they’ve been searching for. Audiologists and other hearing health care providers are best able to help consumers and patients if we’re aware of what they’ve been exposed to. There are literally dozens and dozens of websites, health-food stores and pseudo-science books dedicated to ear candling. Consumers should be wary of the claims made regarding ear candles.

I'd actually heard about it from a doctor's office but I have not tried it. I'd be tempted to but I'd have to find the actual candles and have the money for them. That's always the hard part. I have a big problem with ear wax and who knows it might work better then trying to use ear drops and a syringe.

I've heard of it but I've never used it. I saw a case about it on one of the tv court shows.
But when I want to losen the built up wax in my ears I just use a wet, warm wash cloth and put it on my finger and wipe around my ears and let some of the moisture drip down into my ears and that does it. The wax build up comes up and I clean it out.
For years before I learned about that treatment I had pain in my ears and constantly complained to my doctors about it and they'd examine my ears and say they didn't see anything wrong with them. So I stayed in pain. But thank God for the wisdom He's makes available to us!
