Please I need your help about a wisdom tooth I am so scared read below

I am so upset about this wisdom tooth.I have had this tooth filled,because my old dentist said he wanted to save it.It did not work,it is abcessed and has given me nothing but trouble....I am going to a new dentist now because i have moved..My last visit the dentist he did a root canel,but this Thursday he is going to pull that wisdom tooth.I am taking antibiotics since it is abcessed...my friend just informed me that a regular dentist cannot pull that tooth,it has to be an oral surgeon..but my dentist has taken xrays and if he cnnot pull that tooth he would tell me wouldn't he?My friend has scared me to death telling me that if the tooth is not in straight that if he pulls it ,I could die..have you ever heard of anyone dying from having a wisdom tooth pulled...can you die? Would my dentist pull that tooth if he did not think he could? I am now walking the floor scared to get it pulled...PLEASE GIVE ME SOME ANSWERS

I am so sorry that you are going through it. I hope the pain goes away fast. My son had to go to a oral surgeon to get his cut out. Did the x-rays show it was streight? I would talk it over with the dentist or better yet get a second opinion. I wish I could tell you everything was going to be alright, I dont know. Let me know how things turn out. God Bless.

I did go to my dentist and he pulled the wiisdom tooth and sticked it up after he pulled it.I did great.Evertone told me i had to go to an oral surgeon but they wanted like 800.00 but my dentist did it for 165.00 and i did great,did not hurt at all.He kelp giving meantibiotic.s but the infection did not go away so he pulled and it ia almost healed..

I don't think your dentist would say he could do it if he couldn't. I think when you consider the fact that your tooth is out (erupted) and you have some age on it & a root canal, you are probably quite safe. It is another matter all together when a person is younger, the teeth have not erupted or, as in the case of a friend of mine, has the root wrapped around the facial nerve (trust me, you'd know it by now!) I'd say (and this from someone who's had hers out for nearly 30 years) trust your denist.

I did ,i trusted my dentist and he was able to pull it and stitched it up and i am doing fine.Everyone said i would have to go to an oral surgeon but i didn't..I was concerned after my friend made such a fuss over it..My dentist told me that some dentist do not like to mess with wisdom teeth and that he did not mind.The oral surgeon wanted like 800.00 at the least but my dentist pulled it for 165.00 and it is almost healed up.Thank you for youe reply
